Update: March 5 Meeting and The Old Fire Hall

Last night we had a special Council meeting to discuss a potential sale of the old Fire Hall.

For me, this was the hardest decision I have made on Council. I’ve been going back and forth and losing sleep on it for some time. It was also one where I went to our meeting with a still open mind.

Disabled Transportation Society

At our next meeting, Council will be discussing a motion concerning the Disabled Transportation Society (DTS). DTS currently operates as an independent non-profit organisation. If passed, this motion will direct administration to take on DTS' operations and governance by adding it to our Transit Department’s portfolio.

Cairn on the Boulevard and Parking

East of the Cairn on 105 Ave are two lots that belong to the property. These used to have houses, but are now empty and designated as parking. They currently consist of hard packed gravel.

Budget Deliberations- Day 3

Downtown Rehabilitation

Next week Council will be undertaking its 2018 budget deliberations. The biggest question we will be considering: whether or not to go ahead with the next phases of the Downtown Rehabilitation in the spring.I am leaning towards supporting beginning phase three as soon as possible. However, Council will not be hearing detailed reports and recommendations from administration until later this week. I do have some hesitation, mostly to do with funding.

Budget 2018

This week, Council will be going into budget deliberations... For operational spending, Council will be presented with three potential budgets.... We are also looking at the capital budget. I’m open to your input on any line. But I am especially looking for thoughts on the following two items: train whistles and the proposed performing media arts centre.
