Donate to Dylan’s Campaign

Thank you for supporting my campaign! It is not possible without people like you.

The best way to donate is to send an e-transfer to dylan@bressey.ca or write a cheque to “Vote Bressey” and contact me so I can pick it up. You can also use a credit card by pressing the “Donate” button below.

Important notes: I can only receive donations from individuals who are Alberta residents: businesses or corporations are not allowed to donate to municipal campaigns. I am only accepting donations of up to $300, and will be posting on my website the names of individuals who give over $100.

About Campaign Finances, Transparency

Money is a reality in politics. It is needed to host a website, put up signs, purchase campaign literature, and organize events.

As candidates seek to raise funds, I am concerned about the role that anonymous donors might play. Candidates are able to receive up to $5000 from a single donor, which is a huge amount in Council Campaigns. Worse, there is no obligation for candidates to disclose donors prior to the election. This opens the door to large donors having influence over Council by contributing big amounts to multiple candidates.

To make sure that I am responsive to residents, not donors, I'm voluntarily setting rules to my fundraising. I will not allow anybody to donate more than $300 to my campaign. And prior to election day, I will be posting on my website the name of every donor who gives me more than $100.

This will make it harder for me to fundraise. I've already said "no" to several large cheques. And given our current political climate, not everyone who might donate to a campaign is comfortable having their name disclosed. But I am happy to make my job harder in order to help preserve our local democracy.

You can read my financial disclosure here.

As we head into election season, I've got two donation related asks for you:

  • Hold candidates accountable: Ask other candidates what their policies relating to donors will be. Refuse to support candidates who will not cap the size of donations they receive. Insist that candidates disclose their major donors prior to election day.

  • If you are able, donate to my campaign: I anticipate spending roughly $5000. Under election rules, I could get that all from a single donor. I refuse to do that. But I'm hoping that many people will donate much smaller amounts. Whether you can donate $20 or $200: every little bit helps. You can learn more about donating at www.bressey.ca/donate
