Grande Prairie City Council

working hard for

Grande Prairie

I’m one of those many people who moved to Grande Prairie “just for a few years.” I came just for a job, but it didn’t take me long to set down roots. I’ve had children, made friends, run youth programs, founded a disc golf club, volunteered on boards, and started businesses. Along the way, I’ve come to love this place.

I’m so thankful for the opportunities Grande Prairie has given to my family and me. In everything I do, I seek to build those same opportunities for others. Some are looking for economic opportunity. Some want to experience more of recreation, culture or nature. Some are hoping to start new friendships or get involved in community organisations. And some are on hardtimes so need a hand up. Wherever our residents are at, I want everyone to have to be able to build an amazing life in our community.

I also want all residents to have the opportunity to shape Grande Prairie. I invest time showing up to community events, engaging online, and meeting for coffees to hear about your experiences and ideas. I also continuously advocate for both Council and City Administration to enhance communication and engagement. I want to continue the work of making it easier to know about and have input into the conversations at City Hall.

Serving on City Council has been a tremendous privilege. I hope you will let me continue taking part in this work. Let’s work hard together to connect with our community and build a fantastic Grande Prairie.

LEADERSHIP & IMPACT

Having a positive impact on our community has always been the focus of my work and volunteer time.

WORKING HARD FOR YOU

I’ve spent eight years working for the residents of Grande Prairie. Attending Council meetings, reading briefings, and communicating with our community is just part of the job. I have also represented the City on a number of Boards and Committees.

Volunteering For community

Whether I am working for Council or volunteering on my own time, making our community better is my priority. Disc golf, my neighbourhood association, youth programs, the United Way of Alberta Northwest, and a Community Accessibility Committee: these are some ways I have been involved as a volunteer.

Business & Non-Profit Experience

I spent much of my career as a non-profit director. I’ve also co-owned businesses and served on Boards of large organisations. These professional leadership roles have helped me understand needs in our community and how different organisations work.

KEEPING YOU INFORMED

City Hall shouldn’t be a black box. You should have influence over decisions and know how they get made. That’s why my biggest focus on Council has been transparency and engagement.

I’ve been an advocate of updating the City’s communications (and I’m glad to see huge progress made). I’ve also spent a lot of my time personally connecting with residents. Here are some of the opportunities I’ve created for you to keep informed about the work of Council.
