2000 Doors!

2000 Doors!

Today I met one of my campaign goals: to knock on 2000 doors. With three weeks left, I look forward to knocking on hundreds more...

Some of the best lessons and insights I have received happened on a front step. I've had conversations that have made me laugh. I've had other conversations that have left me sad. I've had times when I have been made red in the face. I've also gathered some great stories. I didn't want to keep these experiences to myself. I've been writing about them throughout my campaign; below are some links. Further down is one of the best stories I have- it happened the very first night I went out.

Council's Work and a Pen

Just last week, I was door knocking. A senior gentleman took me for a tour of his wood shop. He knows he only has a few years left in his house with a work space. He dreads losing his hobby as has happened to so many of his friends. This senior’s big desire is to donate his tools to a shop available for public use. But he told me he was getting nowhere sharing his vision.

I tripped and fell down her steps. I got up slightly embarrassed, but unhurt. I want to work hard to show her my mind is more nimble than my body!

1000 Doors!

1000 Doors!

Today I knocked on my 1000th door. And what an adventure it has been! I’ve been dragged into a party when someone mistook me for the guest of honor. I’ve found myself standing in a stranger’s basement helping them haul a couch out. I’ve been given the best homemade baklava I have ever tasted. I’ve been taken on a garden tour and given some great tips. I’ve had to decline an invite into a hot tub. I’ve happily accepted an invitation to sit around a campfire. Along the way, I have met some fascinating people...
